The Stanton College Preparatory School Blue Devils Varsity Football continued their losing streak Friday night with a 37-7 away loss against the now 2-2 Providence School Stallions.

The Stallions immediately looked to take control of the game as both sophomore tight end Alex Wright and sophomore running back Tiago Tauler each picked up back to back first downs on Providence's opening drive. Tauler continued his dominant takeover scoring off a screen pass thrown by junior quarterback Brooks Hicken to give the Stallions an early 7-0 lead.

Stanton looked to fire back on their first offensive drive, but a fumble from sophomore receiver Alphonso Foster lost all momentum gained by the Blue Devils.

“We need to eliminate the dumb things,” said senior captain Andrew Anton. “If we fix that we can push the ball more.”

The first quarter ended with a goal line sack from Stanton holding the Stallions offense to a field goal to make it 10-0.

The Stallions run game became unstoppable in the 2nd quarter as Tauler ran for over 140 yards and two more touchdowns in the quarter alone. But the Blue Devils had no answer as sloppy penalties and incomplete passes lead to the team facing 23 unanswered points in the first half.

To open the second half sophomore running back for the Stallions, Jet Hood, broke loose for a 16 yard rushing touchdown after an impressive team drive for Providence.

After two short runs from sophomore Jack Shea and an incomplete pass to wide receiver Andrew Anton lead to a three-and-out for Stanton's offense, Tauler ran for yet another touchdown bringing his total to four and the game score to 37-0.

Facing yet another shutout, the Blue Devils found themselves in Providence's own 20 after junior running back Christian Davis powered the run game. With 1:30 left in the game, Stanton scored their first touchdown of the season after sophomore fullback Brooks Beach plowed through the line for a four yard touchdown. Senior kicker Anderson Eller drilled the extra point bringing the final score to 37-7.

Providence moves on to face Father Lopez Catholic High School next week after their 2-2 start to the season. Stanton will continue to aim for their first win next week against the Terry Parker Braves.
