Stanton Falls To Lafayette In Homecoming Game

The Stanton College Preparatory School Blue Devils Varsity Football team remained winless Friday night with a 51-0 home loss against the now 6-2 Lafayette High School Hornets.

Stanton’s defense looked dangerous coming into the first half with freshman defensive back Myles Abram intercepting senior quarterback Mario Thomas, giving the Blue Devil’s an early chance to jump out ahead.

Despite the encouraging defensive start for the Blue Devils, a four and out on their opening drive would diminish their promising momentum.

Lafayette's next drive was powered by junior running back Kaimi McKnight with McKnight picking up over 50 yards and a touchdown on the one drive alone.

Stanton did have bright spots in the first half with senior quarterback Nabil Boulos having three completions for a combined total of 60 yards. Sophomore full back Brooks Beach also broke out for a 45 yard pick up just before the end of the half.

Undeterred by Stanton's offensive bright spots, Lafayette found the endzone two more times and completed a safety to end the first half with a score of 23-0.

Lafayette’s game plan was no different from the previous half. After another Stanton three and out to start the second half, McKnight took it 70 yards for his third touchdown of the night.

Three more Lafayette players found the back of the endzone in the second half continuing their dominance over the Blue Devil’s.

The game was one sided the whole night with the Blue Devils only crossing into the red zone one time. The Hornets, on the other hand, showed why they were undefeated away, scoring seven touchdowns and a safety.

With the win, the Lafayette Hornets end their regular season with a record of 6-2. Stanton will now prepare to face the Keystone Heights Indians (8-0) for their senior night game.
