CLASS OF 2022 PRESIDENT ENDORSEMENT: SIMRAN DUBEY
DEVIL'S ADVOCATE | SEPTEMBER 3, 2018 | NEWS
The Devil’s Advocate endorses Simran Dubey for Freshman Class of 2022 President. Dubey’s superior performance in the presidential debate and personal interviews showcased her ability to formulate long-term goals and stay grounded in her propositions. Dubey also proved her clear focus in her goals to reach out to the student body and the surrounding community.
Dubey’s campaign mainly strives to broaden outreach and service opportunities for the freshman class. She plans on having at least three major service projects this year with her previous connections from the Hunger Fight program, Art with a Heart, and the Jacksonville Mayor’s Office. The relationships she has already established with these programs proves her prior experience with community outreach. Dubey is aware of Stanton’s service hour requirement and that of the Bright Future’s scholarship, so she plans on making this goal more attainable and accessible to the Class of 2022.
However, Dubey needs to make sure that her volunteer events are easily accessible to the student body and can possibly be open to other grades, as well. Her connections with these programs need to be thoroughly maintained and continuously positive if she hopes to guarantee service hours to hundreds of students, which is often hard to accomplish.
Highlighting aspects of school requirements and volunteering presents Dubey’s realistic outlook on problem-solving. Her specificity in these goals helps to narrow down wide concepts such as unity, fun and communication that many candidates inherently touch on. As a result, it feels as though Dubey is more apt to put plans into action, rather than simply mentioning them.
Dubey also has a history of leadership roles that validates her presidential campaign. She was the National Junior Honor Society president at James Weldon Johnson Middle School and a magnet school student ambassador. Dubey’s disciplined mindset also derives from her experience on her school’s yearbook committee and being a second-degree blackbelt. These extensive leadership positions prove Dubey’s knowledge and capabilities as being a strong director for the freshman class.
Dubey is striving for future goals and improvements, as well. She has plans to be more proactive in updating her class through social media (Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.) and even creating a freshman class website for those individuals who may not have social media. This communication factor is one of the major platforms Dubey hopes to carry through her potential presidency and believes it will make the freshmen class more aware overall.
Based on these leadership roles, community connections, and realistic expectations, the Devil’s Advocate endorses Simran Dubey. We believe she will flourish through her initiative and hard work as the Class of 2022 president.
