With the testing season approaching, many students are beginning to study for their Advanced Placement (AP) tests and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams. Students study for these difficult exams in a variety of ways, from not studying at all, to reviewing chapters and topics everyday for months prior to their test.

AP and IB tests offer students college credits, making them important tests in their educational careers. Some students find that the best way to study is by purchasing review books that outline the material that is believed to be included and necessary to doing well on the exam.

“When I study for the AP exams I normally purchase a review book. I particularly like The Princeton Review book for my history exams,” said sophomore Kelly Norton. “In addition to going through review books I watch videos on Youtube that go over the important aspects of the course material.”

Review books can be a valuable resource when preparing for AP and IB exams. Many students like Norton use these books in order to prepare for exams.

The internet can also be a valuable resource when it comes to reviewing. Students watch videos, and review online notes prior to taking their exams.

“The weekend before my exams I sit down and watch Crash Courses, as well as watch other teachers lecture, and review my notes from the year,” said junior Victoria Rinaman. “If someone is looking to score particularly well on any of these exams I would recommend reviewing a little each day for about a month ahead of time.”

There are many ways to study for these exams. Review books and YouTube appear to be the most useful for Stanton students in their quest for success. Anyone looking to score well may consider spacing out their studying to enhance their memory of course material prior to their exam. AP and IB exams can cause stress but there are methods of studying that may alleviate some of those feelings.
